Hi
I'm Paul the creator and admin of Matesgate, the site that is under discussion here. Obviously I came here in response to a request from wjack2010 to address the issues raised in this thread.
Firstly, Matesgate was originally set up on a test site in October 2010. In January 2011, we found there was sufficient demand to get our own domain and hosting which we did. We chose the .biz name for two reasons: firstly, it expresses the nature of the site as a serious and viable business model and secondly, somebody beat me to the .com in order to try to get me to buy it off them (which wasn't going to work!).
The whole ethos of the site is that it is owned by the members and 90% of the site revenue is distributed to them. 10% is retained for costs & development which, at this stage, doesn't even cover hosting costs so I subsidise those costs from my own pocket. The members are effectively shareholders in the business with the number of credits reflecting the number of "shares" they hold.
With regards to comments about the layout of the site, some like it and some don't. The layout itself is not the most important consideration right now as we are continuing to develop the business and as it grows, the development pot will grow too and we can "prettify" the site later. The most important consideration now is that it is functional and that members earn money - the site functions well and members earn money! We are also constrained by the limitations of the script we currently use and obviously the lack of sufficient development funds to improve it but as I've already said, it's more important that monies are distributed to the members than having a pretty site right now.
I don't understand the comment that it looks like a scam site. Most scam sites I have seen are very slick and very convincing otherwise they would be unable to perpetuate their scam so with the greatest respect to the person who made that comment, I would say it is utter nonsense as comments go.
Matesgate is certainly not a scam site - we pay active members every month. Last month's payments ranged from 1 cent to $112. There are a number of payment proofs uploaded by members. A couple of links to these are

You can find plenty more on the site itself if you want to take a look.
My suggestion is this: it's free to join the site and it is open to anyone anywhere in the world so why not join, chat with other members and so on, so why not join (don't enter your PayPal details if you're worried) and see what other members have to say. Then, when you are happy that we are a legitimate and well-intentioned site you can put the effort in required to earn some money and provide suggestions on improving the site, the features etc. If you're not happy, delete your account!
My final response is to UmiNoor's post. All I can say is that if you have only put enough effort in to earn 4000 credits then you haven't even scratched the surface of the potential of the site. It's possible to earn hundreds of thousands of credits in a day if you know how to do it - you just need to read the FAQs on the site!
If you have any further questions, please feel free to go to the site and send me a message via the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page - I will be happy to address any questions.
