I'm thinking maybe I can provide tech services aside here in our town like from other country. Let's say your computer has virus and you just can't figure how to avoid it. Would you install team viewer so that a remote IT guy can help you configure computer problems?

Team viewer is a software that will allow a remote person to control your computer.

Hi, there are websites already that offer online experts to solve your issues for you at a certain rate. I'm not sure what the rate is or how they do it but Team Viewer is a good way to do remote IT work. The problems with that is that I'm not sure if people will trust you or your IT techs, and then there is the issue about their internet connection. If it is uncapped, it is fine, otherwise, things like teamviewer can cost them a fortune in internet costs.

You could always set up a trust based system to get your clients to trust you. Ways of doing this is like a rating requirement where every tech will rate how the client pays and communicates etc. and then where the client rates the tech on completion of his task. This should then be displayed next to the profile of each tech.

Its always the ratings that hinders beginners to succeed in the business though. I have few ratings in odesk, if this is what can make them trust me then I can show my profile to them. However, I have my site which will probably make them see through search engines.
Would the displayed testimonials from clients I have gain some trust?

The idea of a local IT person is great. I'm not sure about the Team Viewer because I'm getting a little paranoid as I get older. I would use an IT professional for major problems I couldn't figure out. I can handle viruses, upgrade and maintenance.

Personally, I don't believe this would work. Teamviewer is expensive if you use it commercially, which it sounds like you will. Also, I doubt anybody would trust you to remotely access their computer. People trust IT professionals in person, but rarely when they don't even know what the guy looks like. But if you think you'd be able to do this profitably, by all means go ahead!

Well, considering the fact that I AM a remote IT guy, I would have to say a resounding "Yes!". However, I use ShowMyPC and Logmein as opposed to Team Viewer, which is unstable and slow. I contract for several businesses, and each of them pays me on a per-call basis. In other words, if they don't need me that month, they do not pay me. It saves them alot of money on technical staff, and it allows me the freedom to take in as many contracts as I can comfortably attend to.

A person would only be able to succeed at this with established experience. This seems like something that would require a lot of building up of trust between consumers and yourself. Once established, I am sure you would be able to make decent money.

Until then, you would require people who are willing to trust you. There are not too many of those in the world!

Nice. Thanks for the info. I could use those software especially logmein as its free I can probably do what you have or maybe ask for payment whenever I'm done with their problem. And If not, then I'll just make it free.

I would never allow remote access to any of my machines - let alone one used for running my business. Luckily I can fix this sort of stuff myself but I would never trust anyone on one of my machines that could possibly have sensitive information on.
