I was talking with a couple of GF'ers the other day and they said they keep an Excel spreadsheet so they can see how much they're spending and why.
My boyfriend also does this. He likes to see what he is spending his money on. I guess it helps you look where you can cut back.

I've never done this and I used to take the piss out of him for it lol. In a nice way of course!
But thinking about it now I realise it's a really sensible idea and I'd probably benefit a lot from keeping some sort of record of where my money is going.
    I may start next month.

For me, i don't have the habit of keeping the record of money i spent. I once tried, but i thought it's a little troublesome, i think the most important is that we should reduce the unnecessary expenditures, don't buy something you don't need, buy things you really need, i think this way can save us some money.

I don't use spreadsheets but my mom does. I prefer to use my iPhone. Theres plenty of apps out there that will make it much easier to do that having to open up a spreadsheet everyday. Almost every app store has some sort of book keeping app most being free

I guess I'm still stuck in the dark ages. I actually still use spreadsheets too. I know I can use simple stuff on my phone to make it easier. But I've been with the spreadsheets for so long and I've gotten use to it by now.

I lost track of mine especially those I've earned offline. But those I've earned online are tracked via paypal archive transactions. This is why most of my transactions are mostly thru paypal.

No, I don't have to do that. My bank and Paypal does it all for me. I just need to look at my record of transactions to know how I am doing. Most of my main purchases are made through my credit card or my Paypal account.

I don't, because I hardly ever spend my money. Even if I started spending a lot, I think I would be able to tell via my bank. The only way I could see myself keeping a record of money I spend is if I start paying for a lot of things in cash.

Yes I do. I track my business expenses in a spreadsheet. I also use QuickBooks. I also track my personal expenses. I carry around a notebook to write down by expenses. This really helps me to stay within my budget.

well it is to keep a record of it. if it's too hard for you to make a paper and pen chart, then use microsoft excel or some kind of spreadsheet as it will organise it for you.

I don't keep a record of the money I spent because I don't want to cry over spilled milk. Sometimes when you see your spending, you will realize things and you may say that I should have never bought this and that and I don;t want to be in this situation. I'd like to let go things that I have already done and I think that keeping a record is not necessary.
