I've been using Norton 360 for the past few months and can't say there's anything to complain about. I've also heard Avast! is a good choice, any suggestions?

I don't know if it's the best, but i'm using AVG Internet Security. It's very user friendly and light on the CPU. There's also a feature on it that accelerates how fast videos load on youtube. It's worked great for me and i've been using it for a few months now. You can visit there website to get a 30 day trial (I think).
STOP USING NORTON!
Microsoft Security Essentials is the best you can get.
I used to use AVG, but it really slowed down my computer. Now, I used Avast. I love it. Installed it on all my family and friends' systems too.
Avast isn't bad, but false positives, false positives, false positives.
All right guys, thanks for all your suggestions. I think I'll try out the AVG trial and then Avast.
Microsoft Security Essentials is the best you can get. It's free, and as much as I hate to say it, made by Microsoft.
There is a free full version of AVG. No need to get the trial.
In term of detection, nothing beats kaspersky.
I've seen plenty of list of anti-virus programs sort by detection rate, Kaspersky is always on the top with near 100% detection on sample of hundreds thousands of virus, worm, etc. Most recently, that "Flame" virus created in some government's lab for the purpose of sabotage Iranian nuclear program was defeated by Kaspersky, although they said it's a piece of the most complex virus they've ever seen.
How do you know an anti-virus program give you false positive?
Did you install another anti-virus and picked up some viruses after uninstall Avast?
