I don't really know how good this article marketing thing is. I write articles but I use them on my own sites. Somehow I feel that I get more benefit from publishing the articles myself. I use other methods to promote myself.
I do think article marketing isn't as effective as it used to be. It is good to have your content posted several places. I do publish my content of web 2.0 sites before article directories. I have had some success publishing articles in ezines and offline, but that depends on your target market.
You can use some article databases like Ezine, HubPages, and Examiner. I used to use eHow as it was so easy to set up an account and you could write about anything you wanted. But now Demand Studios has really streamlined the process so they can make money for themselves, and you cannot actually set up an account for your own purposes anymore. I would still try ezine and hubpages. Squidoo also allows you to write articles, and once Scribd figures out how to make the website functional I am sure they will too.
Hey Wayne! Article marketing is definitely one of the tried and tested methods, that although may not be as effective today but still works! What exactly would you define as worth it? A certain percentage of sales coming from the article's posted links? As an freelance article writer myself, if you want your method of marketing to work, you first need to make sure you have an audience to your pages. Posting articles would either be on platforms such as HubPages and Squidoo like the rest have mentioned, or posted onto your own website. If you're new to this and do not have a good base of followers yet, I suggest you post your articles onto external hosts as you'll stand a better chance at getting your articles indexed by search engines. Write good content that attempts to reach out to your customers to explain how your products might help them solve a certain issue they need to. You need to be able to connect with your audience and only then would your articles relay sales to you for it to be worth it. Whether or not it is worth it I guess depends on how much effort you put into writing your content and getting the word around (Tweets, Facebook, Pinterest etc.). Well if you're lazy or do not know how to write articles, many are out there for hire to write professional reviews for your products. I wish you success in your venture!
Let me first start off by saying it works. It probably one of the best free ways to market anything on the internet. But that being said, it is hard work and very time consuming. In my opinion, it is easier and more profitable to build your own website marketing something and then write articles for your website. This helps your SEO along with bring potential conversions onto your website.
Best of luck.
You can use this, but it is very time consuming because it does take quite a long time to write an article for each product. Then if you plan on submitting these to multiple sites you need to have a unique version. Yes, spinners are available, but in my experience the articles once spun are so junky they are not even legible as being a real writing. So the choice is yours, but it does work if you do it right.
