If you have been actively developing your Facebook account, you would not have to spend any money on advertising. You should be able to promote your business to your Facebook friends. The main thing to remember is to develop your Facebook account with business in mind. Which means that if your business is local, then you should concentrate on building up a big group of local friends.

Why not do both? Really this depends, though. If you have a business that can reach a large spectrum of people both locally and outside of your town, then go with Facebook. If you are only going to reach the people around your area, then I would go with the newspaper.

A targeted advertisement is likely to have more success. The question you have to ask yourself is if the return on your investment is worth it. Today, newspapers are struggling to reach large audiences. So you might have a better chance with online advertising like you mentioned, because it can become viral and shared easier than a newspaper advertisement can be shared.

It depends what age group you want to reach. If you wish to reach a young audience, I would advice Facebook, since young people do not usually read the newspaper.

Honestly I don't take notice of any of the ads that my local newspaper features... But I know adults care about them.

The results and ROI of an online ad are far more quantifiable than offline ads unless you have a special phone number in the ad that you don't use anywhere else. Each medium has it's own distinct advantages and disadvantages though.

i think put ad on paper is more effective than facebook because not every person Online on facebook. The Paper is most advertising medium for ad because most every People read News paper. If you put online ad on facebook its mostly target to youngster but not older person. I think best one is Paper ad where every person know.

On the other hand, many people remain faithful to the old paper and ink system and there's no promise that Facebook users don't just ignore every Ad anyway. What do you think? Which would you rather use?

    Hi

I am professional marketing person and I have 30 years experience of marketing in all its forms. The simple answer is there is no silver bullet, no magic marketing technique that will get you a huge number of sales. What there is - is in fact many different ways to reach your target audience, so methods are better than others and some not as good. I am currently running a competition for a client at www.greentreegameon.co.uk it is targeted at British businesses who could use £150,000 of business software and it mostly a digital campaign that has worked very well indeed. There is also a Facebook page and that is designed just to provide information about Greentree International, check it out by searching on Facebook. The simple answer is that it tends to be a combination of marketing factors that generate business. Its rarely as simple as do I go in Facebook or do I use news papers. If you do get the opportunity go to www.greentreegameon.co.uk
