My laptop was reformated three times already. Once it is reformatted, the trial version of Norton would run for a period of time then will eventually expire. When it expired I downloaded a free version of AVG. Now, I am thinking of installing the free version of AVG again. Do you think this is still a good idea? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

It think it would better if you go for Avast antivirus. It's free and updated to most of the security threats you PC might encounter. I've been using it fr past 10 years and I've found it to be more useful and more tangible than other antiviruses

AVG is quite good. I use that sometimes. I also use Clamav. You should give that a try. If I am not mistaken, Clamav is always free. Don't just depend on just one anti-virus program, though. You can also try using Linux. It's not totally immune to virus but it's less prone to attacks because of its structure.

If you have been using it for long and found it to be very efficient, then I must consider this. But I have yet to wait for other advice so I can have a variety of choices. Thank you for the suggestion.

Simple, we simply use an antivirus that has been widely used or trusted good quality. You can using Avira, AVG, or maybe Avast. Why i recommend this antivirus ? Because, many people are using this antivirus, but they're using for free version. Many people love a free thing LOL. Or maybe you should find crack, patch, or keygen for paid antivirus such Kaspersky Antivirus, Bitdefender Antivirus, Norton Antivirus, Eset NOD32 Antivirus, Panda, Norman Antivirus.

Clamav? Wow, this is the first time I have heard of it. Well 'll take a look on that and see other reviews of it as well. Can I install two antivirus in one computer? I thought having two would make each one think or see the other antivirus as a threat.

I use AVG along with MalwareBytes to get rid of any Malware. In my opinion, AVG is one of the best virus programs I have ever used. It is free and effective. I have never had an issue with a virus since I installed it. I would never use anything else.

Not even the best antivirus program (if you can decide upon which is the best) will protect you from every single malware or antivirus as hundreds of these viruses/trojans/adwares are invented every day. Your best bet is to choose Avast! Antivirus or Microsoft Security Essentials. I have been using the free version of Avast! for 4-5 years now and It has never failed me. You might also want to grab Malwarebytes for Malware protection too, along with Avast, Malwarebytes gives you unparalleled protection.

AVG is by far the best on the market. You can even get a version for your mobile. The only thing that ticks me off about it is it hogs massive amounts of resources and tends to send reports back to it;s servers too often, slowing down your connection. With all that said and done - If you really want to avoid viruses get a mac!

Free Avast is the best you can get. I have found that purchasing antivirus software delivers just as much as the free Avast does.
