My business is a family owned business with flats and houses for rent. My mother did the paperwork and I did the hands on activity. She is now 85 and unable to keep up. I need to take over the book keeping. Nothing is on computers, it is all ledgers. What is the best book keeping and inventory software for a real estate business?

Well, I made a thread about QuikBooks, and it is supposed to be good software. I wanted to see if anyone here used it. It has good reviews online. If there are some records you need transferred by hand right away, you may consider hiring an accountant or accounting student via Craigslist to do it as a temporary job.

Sage Accounts is a great software from a technical point of view, does everything you need and more and if you get sage support they are REALLY good at what they do, ask them anything!!!

Many scanners can also take written text and convert it into on screen text, which should save you some time when it comes to creating a digital archive.
