I heard a story about the olympics going after some cafe in east London that was called "olympiacis" or something.

Before we write them off as bullies, the cafe only opened after the Olympics were awarded to London.

I don't think they used the logo, but I definitely wouldn't risk it.

I think the best way to avoid problems about copyrights is just to modify the logo a bit. Just out a little bit of your taste on it and just base it on the official logo. I think the people will still recognize it as the olympic logo. You can use the same colors I suppose.

That will still be considered infringement unless you've moved sufficiently far away from the basics that it's almost unrecognisable. A logo's power lies in recognition so anything close will get stepped on as well.

Yes it is very much copyrighted so I don't think that it would be a very good idea. However, you will be able to get authorization but it would probably cost a lot, so it would be best to just create something yourself. That's why big businesses usually 'borrow' logos like that.

Of course, it isn't. Since when has anything been organized on a large scale for the little guy, for the average man on the street? We are all just nameless numbers to them.

I think If you use the olympics logo with olympics name then it wont be an issue but yes if you will only use the logo that would cost you a fine.

I don't think it would be a big deal, especially since its just nail art. The worst case senario is that you would be told to stop using it. Legal action wouldn't be taken on something that small. I probably would have a huge flashy sign saying olympic nail art here, but if you just advertise it in your store it'll be fine. I mean people draw or paint the symbol on their faces and no ones been charged :P

Incorrect. They're both trademarked and you can't go around using them to make money without asking first.

Very risky. People drawing or painting the symbol on their faces aren't earning money from using the trademark - a nail salon would be. If a client came in and asked to have it done, you could do it (since it'd be their request) but if you're offering it, you could get into trouble.

Oh, it's copyrighted. There's a lot of money in the Olympic Logo. I would just ask them for permission to use it, and get documentation saying they approved so they can't prosecute you later (And you will almost certainly lose if they do). You may have to pay them royalties for it, though.

Why dont you use some other symbols like dont use whole olympics circles but you can use 2 circles. That wouldnt be a matter.
