Hi, my name is Carlo, and I'm currently balancing my consulting gigs with the launch of my new company.

During the years, I've tried virtually every time management methodology on the planet, but no one seemed to work for me, so I've decided to create a very simple methodology of my own.

I'd like to start selling my methodology via coaching sessions, and I'd love to get feedback from this forum's community, so here's the question:

What’s the biggest challenge or frustration you’re having with Time Management right now ?

I don't usually have this kind of issue because it's all about motivation in my opinion. When I'm motivated to do something, I will do it. I know what I have to do and what the reward will be, and balancing these two together my mind will make me/force me do the job I'm supposed to do. Distractions can be frustrating of couse, but there's nothing the 'turn off' button couldn't fix

Motivation is the main key for any work , so having a strong motivation can over come the problem with time management .

Simple, the biggest killer of good productivity is distractions in my opinion. These can be internal things such as the focus of the individual and the tendency for their mind to wander, or they can be external controllable factors and these for me are things like the internet, email and voluntary conversations with those around you. Beyond that of course, there are factors that are more difficult to control such as colleagues tracking you down for a phone call or conversation or a client call.

I think on average it takes me around 15 minutes to regain the level of focus I had before any of the above if not longer. I know for a fact if I can get an unbroken few hours away from people and with email/internet off, I can achieve the equivalent of a days work if I allowed distractions.

I'm a horrible time manager because the time just seems to literally run away. I think a lot of the times I think i'm working a lot quicker than I actually am. Now I like to write myself a schedule, and I often check the schedule throughout the day to make sure I have great progress. If i'm lagging, then I know I need to quicken up the pace a little. I'm also terribly prone to getting distracted, so I like to work away from the computer. If I need the computer then I make sure that I don't open an additional tab for leisure.

I always write a list of things to do and check them off as I finish. I try not the surf the web too much (hehe) as I might get carried away with something I shouldn't be wasting my time on. If I notice I am getting distracted, I build up the power to put the distraction aside. I then look at my list and keep working.

I can think of only two scenarios when time management doesn't work. One is when you try to fit in too many things which makes it impossible to finish them in the allotted time. The other is when you don't even try to follow the plan you have worked out. If you plan with your own actual capabilities in mind, time management must work.

I had always time management issues especially tracking of what tasks to work on a particular time of the day. I am in freelance web design right now and sometimes you get clients that require you to have a fast turnaround time and you can't tell excuses to your if you promised that you will deliver the completed output on time. What I do is a block all access to any sites that I usually visit that are not related to work so I can focus more on work. Also, discipline is the key to a successful time management.

Time management is the act or process of planning and exercising conscious control over the amount of time spent on specific activities, especially to increase effectiveness, efficiency or productivity. If you do every thing according to your plan then it is impossible no one can frustrated.

This is my biggest problem. I have a to-do list 5 miles long and I try to get everything done in a day. Then, I get upset with myself when I don't finish my to-do list. I know that I overextend myself, but yet I do it nearly everyday.
