If you change the url address of a web page on your own web site, what will happen?

Will the Google PR stay? Or will the PR be transferred to the new page if you have redirected the url address to another page?

If I haven't made this clear, here is what I mean.
Lets talk about two pages on your web site.
    1. domain.com = PR 1
    2. domain.com/forums = PR 2

If you switch the url address, will the PR be switched as well?

If you redirect domain.com and have both domain.com and domain.com/forums to point at the same forum page (is it possible to have two url addresses pointing at the same page?) what will happen? Will it still be PR2 or it might get some old juice from the PR1 backlinks and might go up in PR?

I used to think Google PR was generally based on the amount of traffic and the age of your domain address.

It's effected by the web page but it's based on the domain in terms that it stays with the domain.

The PageRank of a page is defined recursively and depends on the number and PageRank metric of all pages that link to it ("incoming links"). A page that is linked to by many pages with high PageRank receives a high rank itself. If there are no links to a web page there is no support for that page.

Usually if you redirect a page from old url to new url, it gets the pr of the new one. That means after redirection the old url does not exist, that whenever one clicks the old one new page and new url appears. It gets the pr of the new one as far as the page is indexed by Google. The pr of the new url does not directly affect the old one's pr because the old page and url does not exist after redirection.

I guess Page Rank Travel through Incoming links but I am confused why time vary site by site in PR Improvements.

Page ranks are based on Url address and not on actual web page.
