That would depend on what you actually mean when you tell us you don't have a lot of capital. There basically are two ways to create your own website. Firstly, you could make a free blog on wordpress or blogger, although I would recommend wordpress. Blogger is like old the school stuff now. So you can create your free blog on wordpress, then start making posts or whatever you want to do on your website. This is essential to get hold of the features and proper usage before you go out paying for stuff that you don't even know how to use. And of course its worth mentioning that if you take this route, it will cost you a lot less than the one I'm going to explain now. By the way, once you have understood wordpress, you can pay like 10-20$ an year to get your own domain name.
Secondly, you can buy your own domain name right away. It would be recommended only if you know the fundamentals of creating a website already and do know a lot of "WORKING" strategies to promote your website. In other words, you got to be a professional if you want to try this one.

Don't go the free route for a business. It looks bad, it smears your reputation and - with WP - you don't know what ads are going to appear on your site (since WP posts them to pay for the free service).

For the tiny cost of a domain and shared hosting ($50 per year, roughly), you're MUCH better off self-hosted.

I don't think you need to be a pro for this. You can set up WP automatically through most hosting services' control panel (Simple Scripts install, for example) and the app is so simple you can learn the basics in a few hours.

However, if you're REALLY worried about it, there are thousands of people who will set up WP on your domain/hosting for you, for very little money, so that you just have to press "New Post" and type. They'll sort all the layout, the ads and everything else to get you running smoothly. I know one lady who does this and it only costs about $50 to get installed and set up with a professional theme and everything.

Obviously, individual site design or complex theme/layout management costs more but for a business, $50 (once) and $50-$60 a year (domain/hosting) for a basic site is peanuts.

I also have an open offer on my forum, for anyone who wants to try blogging or needs a basic site. Just need your own domain name (unless you can find a use for one of my spares). I currently have about 20-30 blogs running on the hosting plan, so I'm not likely to switch it off for a few years!

I want to create a website so bad. I have the Website tonight 999+ page addition with GoDaddy.com, I just don't really know what I'm doing. I was thinking about hiring someone to create my website, but when I looked around I saw people charging crazy prices to get what amounts to a Myspace page. So for right now I'm just studying my php and making little tweaks to my website one day at a time. I'm not live yet, but when I get it up and running it will make a few dollars trust.

If you can do the domain and hosting bit then the actual design should be no problem - just look for something like dreamweaver, or net objects fusion, use those and you can do it yourself. I mean if you are playing with php you are way ahead of me I am still fighting with HTML and CSS so I tend to just use WYSIWYG editors - so long as what you design is not hideous and it works there should be no problems.

Websites are very easy to create, you could set one up in minutes if you wanted too. It really depends on the type of website you want to create though, some websites require more programming then others.

It all depends on how you are wanting to go about it.

If you're going to use a CMS e.g. WordPress:

Then it's going to be much easier to create than making the website from scratch, but you are limited to what WP lets you do. If you use WP, you can't get the website to look the exact same as you want it.

If you're going to create a website from scratch:

Then it's going to be much harder but you'll learn a lot of valuable skills in the process and you're not limited to themes and plugins. This option can be more expensive as you need software such as Photoshop. (Not necessary though)

Always start by buyng a domain name. Yes, you can use a free sub-domain name but there's a lot more that you can do with your own domain name. Domain names can be bought for about 10usd. If you keep an eye out for special offers, you can even buy a domain name for 1usd. I have just bought a dot com from Namecheap for 1usd.

Simple as that, really. For an extra $15 a year you can get your own domain name with their free hosting. You're limited on plugins and ads but for a basic setup it can't be beat.

The alternative is to buy a domain name, get hosting and wither install a CMS like WP or create pages yourself, which is a lot more work and more money (though a year's hosting is only about $60 and WP is free).
Thanks for this.I used It recently just In case of WordPress How to Install additional plugins?
